Amendment to Development Charges By-law

NOTICE OF THE PASSING OF A

MUNICIPAL-WIDE DEVELOPMENT CHARGES BY-LAW

BY THE CORPORATION OF THE

TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHWOLD

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Township of Southwold passed municipal-wide development charges By-law No. 2025-58 on the 27^th day of October, 2025 under section 2 (1) of the Development Charges Act, 1997, S.O., 1997 c. 27, as amended; 

 AND TAKE NOTICE Section 19 of the Act provides for amendments to be made to development charges by-laws;

 AND TAKE NOTICE Section 19(1.1) of the Act permits a municipality to amend a development charges by-law without following the process otherwise required for by-law amendments under subsection 19(1) of the Act if the only effect of the amendment is to repeal a provision specifying the date on which the by-law expires or to amend such a provision to provide for the by-law to expire on a later date, to  repeal a provision providing for the indexing of a development charge or to amend such a provision to provide for a development charge not to be indexed, or to decrease the amount of a development charge that is payable for one or more types of development in the circumstances specified in the amendment;

 The purpose of this by-law amendment is to change the by-law expiry to 11:59 p.m. on December 31^st, 2026, unless it is repealed by Council at an earlier date.  No key map has been provided as the by-law applies to all lands located within the Township of Southwold.

 A copy of the complete by-law is available for examination at the Township of Southwold offices, 35663 Fingal Line, Fingal, Ontario N0L 1K0 during regular business hours (weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) excluding statutory holidays.
