Economic Development Plan

As part of its ongoing efforts to support our community, The Township of Southwold is undertaking the development of an Economic Development Plan to establish a clear, actionable, and comprehensive direction for economic development that responds to changing market conditions, addresses unique local challenges, and identifies future opportunities.

Project Timeline

September 2025: Received Grant money from Rural Ontario Development Program

$22,137.50 way received, funding 50% of the project costs
The balance of the cost are funded from the 2026 Township Tax Levy and Reserves

March 2026: McSweeney & Associates engaged as consultants on project

May - June 19, 2026: Public Survey

June 2026: Focus Groups and Interviews

- Stakeholders and Organizations
- Tourism, Recreation, and Culture
- Small Business

June - July 2026: Data Analysis

August 2026: Draft Plan

September 2026: Final Plan and Presentation to Council
