Just after we left the ballpark Mother Nature decided that she was going to see how our 14 tractor drivers would handle 90 minutes’ worth of rain. By the time we got to the Salmon & Trout farm, even with our free ponchos, most were wet but determined not to quit. Thankfully, the rain stopped when we hit the road again and for the rest of the run she gave us nice weather.
Kit Brown did manage to squeeze us all into his office for an interesting presentation. (Thank you, Kit!)
After lunch at Nick Hoffsuemmer’s farm (Thank you Nick!) we made our way to Ontario Plants where Jack Vanderkooy provided us with a very interesting tour and video presentation of their business. (Thank you, Jack!) Around 4.00 p.m. we arrived back to the ballpark in Fingal.
This year’s “People’s Choice” trophy winners were:
First – Heather Brady with her 1951 Farmall C.
Second – Ed Milligan with his 1954 Oliver 77 diesel. (All the way from Windsor)
Third – Ray Lunn with his 1959 Massey Ferguson 65.
All the drivers earned a participation medallion. Congratulations to everyone.
A very special thank you to our sponsors – Stans Total Tire, Hyde Park Equipment, Fingal Farm Supply, Cotrac Ford Lincoln Sales, Dave’s Truck & Auto, and Brian’s Ag Repair Services. Also thank you to Shirley Longhurst and her helpers from Lawrence Station Community Hall for their excellent food, to the Southwold Volunteer Fire Department for keeping us safe on the road and the Township of Southwold for their support in so many ways. A big thank you to our tractor drive participants, you just got ‘er done and we all had fun doing it.
On behalf of our Southwold by Tractor Committee, and our volunteers thanks to everyone and see you next year.
