Santa Claus Comes to Southwold

The first Sunday afternoon in December has been the date of our annual Santa Claus parade in Southwold Township since 1980.
Held in the village of Fingal this year’s edition was blessed with good weather, a great turnout of 21 floats and several hundred spectators.

For 2016 our parade award winners were:
>Best Children’s float – The Luyks family.
>Best Theme – Jim’s Lawn Care.
>Best Marching group – 1st Shedden Scouts.
>Best Service Club – Port Stanley Leo’s.
>Presidents Choice – Talbot Trails Optimist Club.
Congratulations to all of the winners.

Special thanks must go to Randy Dawdy’s band, to all of you that contributed food to the Caring Cupboard, to the Fingal,Shedden and District Optimist Club that organizes the parade each year with the help of numerous volunteers, and to all of our parade participants and our spectators.

2017 is Canadas 150th birthday! Lets all start thinking about ways to make next year’s event even bigger and better.

Thank you everyone and see you next year, Ian Chard Deputy Mayor.
