Did you know....????
Greenlane Landfill is owned and operated by the City of Toronto. The CIty maintains a comprehensive web page with valuable information regarding the land fill.
The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) is the regulatory body that has jurisdiction over waste disposal sites in Ontario. The MOE conducts inspections and report reviews to ensure a facility is operating within its approval documents, the applicable legislation and regulations.
The City of Toronto and Green Lane Landfill retained the service of Golder Associates Ltd. in late 2012 to conduct an odour survey and odour assessment. As requested by the MOE, the City of Toronto recently submitted an updated odour abatement plan and strategy dated June 14, 2013. Representatives of the City's Solid Waste Management Services for Green Lane Landfill presented the updated odour abatement plan at the Public Liaison Committee meeting on June 18, 2013. Green Lane Landfill has already completed some of the work and is in the process of implementing more. Further, funds have been earmarked by the City of Toronto to implement the necessary changes and to operate well into the future to continue meeting the recommendations of the study.
