A Message From Deputy Mayor Ian Chard.
The 2017 St Thomas Home and Garden Show.
This past weekend our Southwold Township Economic Development Committee along with our History Committee and Southwold in Bloom Committee had a booth at the St Thomas Home and Garden Show. This is an important part of our ongoing efforts to raise the profile of our Township by making more people aware of the many good things happening in Southwold.
This year we estimated that over 300 people visited with us (Up from around 200 one year ago.) High levels of interest were shown in the new residential housing developments that Council and Staff are working on, new historical walks brochures from our historical committee, Our Wildlife sanctuary, Rosy Rhubarb, Southwold by Tractor, The new for this year Breakfast on the farm event, Our upgraded sports facilities, Our tractor pull and Our farm markets.
Special mention must also be made of the interest shown in the book of old Southwold pictures put together by Pat Temple.
One year ago in our first appearance at this event we estimated that 30 – 40% of our visitors did not know where Southwold is. That % was much lower this year.
Our sincere thanks to Pat Temple, Jane Cox and my wife Josie for their help and a special thank you to all of you that spent time with us.
Ian Chard, April 3, 2017.
